Regularly washing a washable duvet is important for maintaining a clean and healthy sleep environment. It not only ensures a fresh-smelling and comfortable duvet but also removes dirt and bacteria. As a result, you will sleep better! Here are some tips you can follow to wash your bedding effectively:
Recommended minimum load weight for washing machine and dryer
8 KG | Single washable duvet 140x220
8-9 KG | Double washable duvet 200x220
10 KG | Lits-jumeaux washable duvet 240x220
TIP: if you have a smaller washing machine and a large double bed, take 2 single duvets instead of a double or a lits-jumeaux washable duvet.
1. Give your duvet space:
A washable duvet weighs about 1.5 to 2 kilos, but the filling takes up more space. It is important that the duvet has enough space in the machine otherwise you risk damage to your duvet and that would be a shame! Therefore, we advise washing duvets one at a time and paying close attention to the recommended machine load weights per duvet size. Never put another product with the duvet, as this increases the risk of damage.
2. Follow the washing instructions:
To keep your washable duvet nice and soft, it is really important to follow the washing instructions carefully. In most cases, a maximum of 30 degrees and choose a gentle program. Use a detergent suitable for lower temperatures so it can work optimally.
3. Use the right detergent:
Follow the recommended amount of detergent. Using too much detergent can cause white streaks or stains on the bedding. Use a detergent suitable for the prescribed maximum temperature.
4. Drying:
It is important to get your duvet completely dry. We recommend drying it in the dryer at a low temperature. This keeps the fabric looking good longer and the filling nice and airy. A handy tip is to add so-called dryer balls – these help keep the filling loose and evenly distributed. Make sure the duvet is completely dry before removing it from the dryer. Of course, you can also dry the washable duvet (partly) outdoors.
5. Storage:
Store your clean bedding in a clean and dry place. Avoid direct sunlight and ensure the storage area is well ventilated.
Important! By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your bedding is not only clean but also comfortable and durable. Not properly following one or more of the mentioned steps can lead to damage to your duvet or, for example, clumped filling. Proper care of your bedding contributes to a healthy sleep environment and extends the lifespan of your bedding.
Sleep well!
