Washing curtains depends on the type of fabric and the washing instructions on the label. Follow these steps for a fresh and well-maintained result, but always follow the care label, as it takes precedence!
1. Check the care label.
First, check the care label for specific instructions. Some curtains can be machine-washed, while others may only be dry-cleaned.
2. Prepare for washing
Beat or shake out the curtains to remove loose dust and dirt. Remove any hooks or other loose parts to prevent damage.
3. Wash using the right program and detergent
Can your curtains be machine-washed? If so, wash them separately, without other laundry, and make sure the drum is not too full. Use a gentle wash cycle with cold or lukewarm water and a mild detergent. Avoid bleach, as it can affect the color and structure.
4. Dry without creasing
Hang the curtains up immediately after washing to prevent creases. You can hang them up while damp so they dry neatly in shape.
5. Ironing or steaming (if necessary)
Check the care label to see whether the curtains may be ironed and at what temperature. You can also steam the curtains with a handheld steamer.
N.B.
For delicate or expensive curtains that cannot be machine-washed, dry cleaning may be a better option. Always consult the instructions for the best way to care for your curtains.
Please note: our washing instructions are intended as advice. Keep in mind that the programs, settings, and capacities of washing machines and dryers may vary. Washing and drying the product therefore always remains the user's responsibility.
