How can I best wash my towels?

If you are washing your towels for the first time; please consult this page.

After the first time, it becomes much easier. Regularly washing your towels not only removes dirt and bacteria, but also ensures your towels smell wonderfully fresh and feel comfortable. Here are some tips you can follow to wash your towels effectively:

1. Sort by color:
Before washing the towels, make sure to sort them by color first. If you have a full drum, wash the towels separately to keep the color longer.

2. Not too full washing machine:
Make sure the washing machine is not too full and never leave wet towels, heavily soiled kitchen towels, or dirty dishcloths in the washing machine for a long time. This will cause your towels to smell bad.

3. Not too much detergent and no fabric softener:
Choose a mild detergent so the fibers of the towels won't get damaged. Otherwise, your towels won't dry as well. Do you have white towels in the washing machine? Add a little soda to the detergent; soda makes your towels extra white.
Washing towels with fabric softener is not recommended. Fabric softener negatively affects the absorbency of your towels. Moreover, it is bad for the environment.
Do you like soft towels? Then add a splash of natural vinegar to the detergent. Vinegar and soda are also good for descaling your washing machine and pipes!
Want your towels to smell extra nice? Then add a splash of laundry perfume or a handful of washing pearls.

4. Wash program:
The best is to wash your towels at a temperature between 40 and 60 degrees, higher temperatures are really no longer necessary with today's detergents!
The cotton wash program is especially suitable for washing towels.

5. Drying:
When the washing program is finished, you must remove the towels from the washing machine immediately. Otherwise, your towels will start to smell musty. You can safely put towels in the dryer. The dryer even makes your towels softer than air drying. Don't dry your towels too hot, as this can damage the fibers.
Don't have a dryer? No problem, just hang them on the drying rack. Make sure they have enough space between them to dry properly.
