What is the best way to wash my towels?

Washing your towels regularly not only helps remove dirt and bacteria, but it also ensures that your bath textiles smell wonderfully fresh and feel comfortable. Here are some tips you can follow to wash your bedding effectively:

1. Sort by color:
Before you wash the towels, make sure you sort them by color first. If you have a full drum, wash the towels separately to keep the color much longer.

2. Washing machine that is not too full:
Make sure that the washing machine is not overfull and do not throw wet towels, heavily soiled kitchen towels or dirty dishcloths into the washing machine. This will make your towels smelly.

3. Not too much detergent and no fabric softener:
Choose a mild detergent so that the fibers of the towels are not damaged. This means that your towels do not dry as well. Do you have white towels in the washing machine? Add a little bit of baking soda to the detergent, because soda makes your towels extra white.
Washing towels with fabric softener is not recommended. Fabric softener has a negative effect on the absorbency of your towels. Moreover, it is bad for the environment.
Do you like soft towels? Then add a dash of natural vinegar to the detergent. Vinegar and soda are also good for descaling your washing machine and pipes!

4. Washing program:
It is best to wash your towels at a temperature between 40 and 60 degrees, 90 degrees is not necessary.
The cotton washing program is ideally suited for washing towels.

5. Drying:
When the washing program has ended, you should immediately remove the towels from the washing machine. Otherwise your towels will smell musty. You can safely throw towels in the dryer. The dryer even ensures that your towels become softer than if you let them air dry. Do not dry your towels too hot, as this can damage the fibers.
Don't have a dryer? No problem, hang them out on the clothes rack. Make sure there is enough space between them to allow them to dry properly.
